90年代初頭よりエレクトリックミュージックに親しみ、Kraftwerk等を好んで聴いていた。そんな中HARDFLOORのHardtrance Acperienceを聴き大きな衝撃を受け、エレクトリックなダンスミュージックである「テクノ」にのめり込む。その後すぐに自分でも曲制作をするようになり多くの作品を作る。
2000年、PHYSALISの名前で活動を始め、その作品が、日本最大のトランスパーティー「THE OCEAN」のオーガナイザー兼レジデントDJであるYODAの目にとまり、2000年1月、彼のレーベル”HORIZON”より第一弾12インチシングルとして「Night&Dawn/Daisy」がリリース。その後も様々なコンピレーションへオリジナル曲を提供する等、勢力的に活動。夏には小田原のビーチで行われたパーティー｢Balearic Sunrise｣にて2時間に渡るフルセットのライブパフォーマンスを披露し、劇的な夜明けを見事に創り出して見せた。｢THE OCEAN｣でもDJ及びディレクターとしてラウンジを高感度なパーティー空間として演出し、また、自身のパーティー｢DRUM｣のオーガナイザー兼レジデントDJとしても活動中。2003年には念願のFUJIROCK FESTIVAL（DAYDREAMING SITE）にLIVE ACTとして初出演を果たし、各方面より注目を集めた。2004年1月、3年ぶり二枚目のシングル「ASIAN BLUE ROSE/BALEARICSUNRISE」(HORIZON)をリリース。初のワールドワイドリリース作品となり、リリース前よりSATOSHI TOMIIE、STEVE LAWER、CASS、MIJK VAN DYJK、LAURENT GARNIER、SHIN NISHIMURAらがプレイしており注目を集めている。Born in Hiroshima in 1976, the Japanese DJ/writer moved to Tokyo to take part in the burgeoning club scene in the early 90's. Inspired by a wealth of DJ's, in particular, Laurent Garnier, Matsusaka started to DJ and write his own tracks. His tracks started appearing on a range of independent electronic compilations , while he established his own Drum parties, but it was not until 2000 it really began to kick off for him, with the release of "Night and Dawn" under the name Physalis. Released on 12", the track was signed for release on the Japanese dance label Horizon, which also released Dave Seaman's Renaissance mix CD, and the track was licensed for a number of compilation of compilations within Japan.
In 2001 Matsusaka was the support Live PA for Paul Van Dyk at Tokyo's Liquid Room.
In 2003 Matsusaka performed live at the legendary Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.HORIZON PROFILE: A Japanese label that has released artists such as Dave Seaman's mix compilations and Jakatta's album in Jpan. Horizon have also specialized in releaseing up and coming Japanese artists tracks on vinyl.
